Creating Designs With a Story Behind Them

Marv James Marketplace started with a simple idea: create things that mean something.

After a lifetime of experiences, memories, hobbies and connections to the people and places around me, I’ve learned that the things we value most often have a story behind them.

That’s what inspires my designs.

From Iowa landmarks and local history to fishing, outdoor adventures, family, patriotism, horses, special occasions and the people we never want to forget, I enjoy turning those stories and interests into designs people can wear, display and share.

I’m not a giant apparel company—and that’s the way I like it.

Every design is created with personal attention, with the goal of making something a little different from what you’ll find in a big-box store. Some designs are meant to make you smile. Some celebrate where you come from. Others honor someone special or capture a memory that deserves to live on.

At 82 years young, I’m still creating, still learning and still having fun bringing new ideas to life.
